G. M. Hamburg is Otho M. Behr Professor of Russian History at Claremont McKenna College. His books include: Boris Chicherin and Early Russian Liberalism, 1828–1866 (Stanford University Press, 1992); as editor and translator, Liberty, Equali­ty, and the Market: Essays by B. N. Chicherin (Yale University Press, 1998); Russia’s Path Toward Enlightenment, 1500–1801 (Yale University Press, 2016); and as editor, Russia in War and Revolution: The Memoirs of Fyodor Sergeyevich Olferieff (Hoover Institution Press, 2021).
