John R. Lott, Jr., is the founder and president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, a research and education organi­zation. Lott is an economist who has held research and/or teaching positions at the University of Chicago, Wharton, Yale, Stanford, UCLA, and the University of Maryland. He has published over 100 articles in refereed journals on a range of topics from law and economics, crime, finance, education, and industrial organization.
