Matthew Ford read History and Economics at St. John’s College, Oxford, and then worked with John Kay and Mervyn King as a research assistant on their book Radical Uncertainty. Having got interested in decision theory, he returned to St. John’s to write Intellectual Capital, an academic and financial history of the College, and to investigate how useful decision theories were in understanding the actual situation the College found itself in.
